Build Your Business On A Solid Foundation

Why building your business on a solid foundation is essential to sustainable growth.

I’m not religious, but Jesus said it best:

“They have built their homes on rock-solid foundations. The winds howl, the rains come – even a flood comes – but the house stands firm. Those who hear His words, but fail to live by them are foolish builders.”

In business school, we hear a lot of words but we fail to live by them. We know how to define mission and vision statements, how to write a marketing plan, and how to balance accounts. What we’re not taught is how to apply any of these things in real life.

As unfortunate as that is, it makes sense. Because no one can teach you how to take action.

It’s not until we break ground on our passions that we begin to understand the meaning behind what we’re doing and often by then, it’s too late. We become so wrapped up in the doing that we tend to forget about the why.

Here’s where that house metaphor comes in. If we don’t pay attention to the fundamental aspects of why we’re doing what we’re doing, we neglect to create a strong foundation. So the higher we build, the bigger we’ll fall.

When starting a business, even in the mid-stages of it, it’s important to understand these fundamentals. Before you build your house too high, make sure you have the following in place:

1. Solidify your why

(not to mention your who, what, where, and how)

  • Write mission and vision statements

  • Describe the problem you’re solving

  • Identify your unique value proposition

2. Creating a clear marketing plan

  • Get comprehensive clarity on who your audience is

  • Examine your methods of generating awareness

  • Set goals and strategize a path to achievement

  • Create a marketing funnel

3. Implement efficient workflow systems for publishing content

  • Create a resource library going so you know where to pull content from

  • Get organized and clear about your strategy

  • Build accountability mechanisms into your weekly routine

Each of these components is essential to the scalable success of any business. Having witnessed many entrepreneurs struggle in the height of their success and therefore missing out on opportunities because of a shaky foundation made it clear to me that this principle has been severely overlooked. It’s for this exact reason that the Brand Bible came to fruition.

The Brand Bible exists to set a solid foundation beneath your business. It’s everything an entrepreneur needs to create long-term success and it includes every component from the aforementioned list, and more.

Don’t let a weak foundation hinder your opportunities for growth. Set a strong foundation using the outline above or book a free call if you need help getting started.
